Sunday School and Youth

P35A-Sunday School

Our goal in helping to form the faith of the young people who attend our church is to impart Biblical and religious literacy and to instill in them an appreciation of worship and the role of the church in their lives and in the world. During the program year (September through May), we offer weekly Sunday school classes for children in elementary school, bimonthly classes for middle-schoolers, and monthly classes for high-schoolers.

Children attend the early part of worship and then go to their classes. Our educational focus at each grade level is as follows:

K-5: Biblical literacy (Bible stories, shared through the Shine curriculum)

6-8: Religious instruction (Learning about Bible and church history and theology through the Re:form curriculum)

9-12: Religious application and appreciation (applying Biblical and religious principles to current events, and participating in worship and service)

We also offer:

  • Bibles to graduating third-graders
  • Confirmation classes for students in grades 7 or 8 every other year
  • Alternating years of Our Whole Lives human sexuality curriculum for students in grades 7-9 and 10-12
  • Family Sundays quarterly, in which children and youth are encouraged to help lead worship along with adults.
  • Annual or semi-annual youth & family special events, including a Halloween Party, Advent Workshop, Mardi Gras Pancake Breakfast, and Equipping Teens for Life Conference

Nursery care is available during Sunday services. We look forward to seeing you and your children at Edina Morningside!
